MOVIE REVIEW: NFF 2010 vs INEC 2011

As with most Nigerians, I was privileged to see the blockbuster movie, NFF 2010 when it hit the big screens months back, but only a few of us have been fortunate enough to witness the making of my new movie, INEC 2011. I would like to wet your appetites a little, so you would rush to the cinemas to see it when it is released. However, some of the scenes are yet to be finished.

This movie was inspired by the film NFF 2010... I would like to mirror both movies for your easy understanding.

SCENE 1:

SACK AMODU..................................................................SACK IWU

Inspiration... He is not the man for the job. He has been tried several times and has consistently proven to Nigerians that he is not capable. He doesn’t have the right skills and credentials to lead us to the promise land. We need someone with an impressive track record.

Mirror... He will mess up our chances at the WORLD CUP..................... He will mess up our chances for credible ELECTIONS.

SCENE 2:

LAGERBACK Appointed.....................................................JEGA Appointed

Inspiration... He is not what we expected but he is much better than the former. He doesn’t possess all the necessary credentials but he has a decent record. Therefore, we must give him all he asks for so we can have a successful exercise. He needs all our support.

Mirror... He had a good spell as the coach of Sweden.................................He had a good spell as the head of ASUU.

SCENE 3:

LAGER‘BEER’ Dumped.......................................JAGA-JAGA Dumped

Inspiration... He has failed Nigerians. He has disappointed all of us by leading Nigeria to her worst ever performance. He has dashed all the hopes and aspirations of Nigerians. This was our chance to show the whole world how serious we are about making progress. We cannot take this.

Mirror... Amodu with all his flaws wouldn’t have done this bad................. Iwu with all his flaws wouldn’t have done this bad.

SCENE 4:

FOOTBALL TEAM Dissolved................................... ELECTORAL TEAM Dissolved

Inspiration... They are all unpatriotic. They place their personal interests above national interest. They don’t deserve to represent Nigeria any more. They are all selfish and egocentric individuals. We need a new set of Nigerians to take over from them. They took this honour and privilege for granted.

Mirror... We must begin to prepare for Brazil 2014......................................We must begin to prepare for 2015 Elections


... I sincerely hope my movie would have a different script for scenes 3 and 4 by the time we release it in June 2011. But my team of researchers consistently think otherwise. They say that there are too many similarities between both movies to have different outcomes. These are but a few of their concerns;


• Coach Lagerback said on his appointment that he had insufficient time to make any meaningful difference and Jega says the same thing,


• Lagerback required a huge financial budget for the execution of his plans, same as Jega


• Controversies trailed Lagerback’s method of selection and compilation of team lists... holes have been picked in Jega’s method for voters’ registration and compilation of the voters’ register,


• Lagerback ended up using almost the same personnel and team selection as Amodu... Jega is doing the same by retaining resident electoral commissioners, using NYSC members as electoral officers, and working with the same staff as Iwu.


Let me pause here for now. As they say, No one fails/succeeds suddenly, for it is a process. Therefore, we can begin to plot our graph.


... Anyway, I AM STILL HOPEFUL.
